Ben and I drove up into the Santa Cruz mountains just above Woodside. Its only about 20 min from our house.
We did a good hike though redwoods. I know I was feeling it.
We stopped at BUCKS in Woodside for dinner. I opted for a veggie pasta plate. It was AMAZING. I think it was the sauce that got me. I could not stop eating it. I asked the waitress what it was and found it to be just wine, butter and garlic reduction. Thats's all? omg it was so tangy and yummy. Even I the salt woman did not salt this dish nor did I add the cheese.
There is no half-full or half-empty here. The glass is drained. Twice. Ben has been working every day and mostly on-site so we've not had time together. The day had been stressful for us both - so at 5:15 we headed to Milagros for "us" time. Dinner was delicious as were the margaritas. By 7:30 we were snuggled in bed watching "WALK HARD." (omg this movie is so funny) and then a seemly endless number of "how it's made" and "dirty jobs."
We were looking forward to being the the office together today when the phone rang and he was summoned back up to SF to troubleshoot the system for Cisco, again. Sheesh - I miss him when he is not home with me!
I was getting food for dinner at Whole Foods and was offered a taste of Yerba Mate. I'd never had it before. The sample I had was iced and sweetened with blue agave which I had also never had. It was love at first taste! I bought bags and bulk tea , blue agave and this adorable orange tea pot with built in strainer.
I've been sipping this tea warm (mmmm) all afternoon. It's just the right amount of kick and sweet!
Yerba Mate: (unsmoked) "a natural energy and fitness tea, with more antioxidants, minerals, amino acids and Vitamin B than Green Tea" (2x the antioxidants) And it's naturally caffeinated at about 1/3 the amount in coffee.
Blue Agave: is a low-glycemic organic sweetener made from agave (catus) nectar. It is absorbed slowly (unlike sugar) so you don't spikes in blood sugar. It's sweeter than sugar so you use less and it TASTES AMAZING.
The Pot - made in japan, this little baby has a built in filter for loose tea and makes about 2 cups. A couple of teaspoons (or a bit more) of loose tea - pour in hot water - steep for at least 5 min.
Aaron and Cas and Adam went out and bought me this awsome ice cream cake, a martini shaker, a ONE REPUBLIC cd , a PANIC AT THE DISCO cd and a spay bottle of urine-be-gone. (cat issues, lol) Ben cleaned up the patio , took me to lunch in SF and is building me a new PC. I got to chill in my hammock with my doggies and go to dinner with Cas and Aaron Adam . Work load was light. All in all a great day!
