Looked just like THIS without the "53."

White, 1960 VW bug I put TAPE on to match HERBIE the love bug.

Stick shift, crank windows, flat windshield... it was my baby - until I went to college, then my sister got it. And she rolled it on the way to a beer party in the sticks. Her friends just rolled it back on it's wheels again.

I want a red or a bright yellow one :D I don't know if I ever would get one since I can't even drive a car LOL

In the town I was a teenager in (Lamar, CO - population 7K) the activity was to "drag main." This was done by driving from one end of town where the Tasty Freeze was, then turning around at the AW rootbeer drive inn and going back to the Tasty Freeze to turn around there. The route was 2 miles long. Seeing friends - you honk. Driving past friends, you open your windows and chat. I picked up my first real boyfriend dragging main.

Gas at it's lowest then? 25cents a gallon. And I still had to watch my pocketbook. Dragging main took most of my allowance.

Oh cruising. Not so much of that going on these days, Tasty Freeze & A&W...thanks for the nostalgia jolt, Deb . I miss those places and dragging the main. ;)

After my first bug, I was hooked.
I went off to college with my boyfriend who bought a VW Camper...we sold the camper and bought an orange "super" beetle. Then bought a "sun" VW camper (the canvas roof pulled back and it was open at the top, with little windows ALL around the top. We lived in Portland. It rained. It leaked.)
Next relationship - I still had the orange beetle and bought another VW Camper.
Sold the camper and bought a Rabbit Convertible.
Went without VW's for awhile - then Ben bought the Green Bug in 2000.
Now the Green Bug is my son Aaron's car.
