Blast to the past for mother's day
I snapped a number of shots today on my cell phone and my camera - When playing with them, I realized I wanted to show the way I "FELT" today with a my kids. So I altered them all with filters! It was fun playing all day. We drove over the mountains - thru redwoods- to the beach. Then we drove down the coast to Santa Cruz and the Beach Boardwalk. We had a blast.
I have a very strong emotional attachment to this amusement park. I first came here from Colorado in 1971 with my sister and our parents on vacation. My father had always told us of "coney island" and this seemed pretty close to his stories. We stayed there and dad taught us to body surf in the waves and Barbie and I rode the big dipper 7 times in a row!
I came back on vacation again in 1973 - and in 1976 when I moved to the bay area I came here often. It was my favorite get away and I brought Ben when he moved out. To us it reminded us of Cedar Point, the part we first met at in Ohio. Ben and I got married at this part (well, at the pier) in 1999. My kids were there and stood up with us. After the ceremony, we all came here and rode the coaster with Ben and I in the front seat.
We had wedding cake today (cotton candy) and just played all day. Fabulous!
